Who We Are
A sisterhood of empowered women, bound by high ideals and a spirit of generosity — from our founding chapter in 1998 to 168 campuses today.

Our story
A bond that begins in college and never ends
Lumen Rose Society was founded on a simple conviction: that college women accomplish more — and become more — when they lift one another. What began as a single chapter has grown into a thriving sisterhood of collegians and alumnae across the United States and Canada.
Our members lead student governments, earn scholarships, serve their neighbors and cheer each other on through every exam, interview and first job. Sisterhood here is not a season. It is a lifetime.
- 168 thriving collegiate chapters
- Nearly 8,000 new members welcomed each year
- A global network of high-achieving alumnae
High ideals of membership
What it truly means to be a Lumen Rose
Sisterhood that Lasts a Lifetime
We confide in one another, celebrate together and show up — in college and for decades after.
Striving for Excellence
High expectations for scholarship, conduct and integrity guide everything we do.
A Spirit of Giving
From heart-health awareness to neighborhood service, generosity is our shared language.
History
Rooted in friendship, growing ever since
1998 — The founding. Twelve women at a small liberal-arts college form a society devoted to scholarship, sisterhood and service, choosing the rose as their emblem of unfolding promise.
2004 — Coast to coast. The fiftieth chapter is installed, and the first national leadership conference gathers 400 collegians for a weekend of workshops and friendship.
2012 — The Foundation. The Lumen Rose Foundation is established to fund scholarships, emergency grants and heart-health education in our communities.
Today — 168 chapters strong. From bid day to alumnae chapters, more than a quarter-million women have worn the rose — and the next chapter is yours to write.

Executive office staff & careers
Our Denver-based executive office supports all 168 chapters with recruitment guidance, housing resources, event planning and member records. We hire collegians for summer internships and alumnae for full-time roles — see open opportunities by writing to our team.
Notable members
Judges, surgeons, founders, authors and educators wear the rose. Each year at Founders’ Day we honor alumnae whose lives reflect our ideals — read their stories in Member Stories.
The Lumen Rose brand
Our colors are deep rose wine and blush; our emblem, the unfolding rose. Licensed vendors and brand guidelines for chapters are available through the chapter supply shop.
Come as you are. Leave as sisters.
Membership begins with a single conversation. Tell us where you’re headed to school and we’ll walk with you from there.
